Dr Nick Toalster is a specialist ophthalmologist based in Brisbane with 23 years experience in eye care. He holds dual qualifications in Optometry (Honours, QUT, 2002) and Medicine (Honours, UQ, 2010), and went on to complete advanced fellowships in corneal transplantation and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery(MIGS) in Sydney and Melbourne.

A Fellow of the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO), Dr Toalster has contributed to pioneering cell-based therapies for Fuchs dystrophy and helped develop innovative glaucoma co-management programs within major public hospitals. In his private practice, he combines cutting-edge surgical techniques—such as micro-implants, lasers, and MIGS—with a calm, patient-centred approach that prioritises comfort and clarity.

He is also a Senior Lecturer at the Universities of Queensland and Sydney, a regular speaker at national ophthalmology and optometry meetings, and has served on RANZCO’s Boards and Committees. Passionate about research and mentoring, Dr Toalster continues to advance new treatments in glaucoma and ocular surface disease while ensuring every patient feels listened to, informed, and confident in their care journey.
